What a year! Coronavirus still continues to set the tone around the world. Add to this climate change and various political collisions – we can’t say this year has been a peaceful one for our planet. For this reason, at the end of the year we want to emphasize the good things. And most of the goodness comes from you! We want to express gratitude to our partners, customers, employees and vendors for the great cooperation in 2021 and look back on our joint achievements.
Turned 18 years old and helping the Chinese tourism sector
The year 2021 was very special for Linearis Translations because this year we have become adults! We are 18 years old as we’ve provided language services since 2003. When Voldemārs Brēdiķis, the founder of Linearis Translations, established the company, he probably could not imagine that during those eighteen years we will become one of the leading providers of language services in the Baltics, an internationally recognized company with an office even in China!
More about China. This year we helped the Chinese tourism industry to overcome the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic. How? By working to support businesses, especially in the European and Chinese markets. Linearis IBC and Linearis Translations Beijing together with Freedom Expo helped to create closer cooperation between industry representatives from the Russian Federation and many other countries around the globe, especially the People’s Republic of China.
New home for the Linearis Translations office in Latvia
We also experienced various exciting events locally. Being aware that change can be healthy from time to time, this year we created a new work environment for ourselves, a new home in the creative and progressive quarter Jaunā Teika. Now you can find us in the office building AUSMA, also called the “inspiration building”. We are certain that new possibilities and a comfortable and productive working environment will help us to achieve even bigger goals.
Participation in international projects, driving exports
In 2021 we also helped a lot our customers to achieve their goals, for example, together with start-ups from all around the world and other Latvian exporters we worked on projects to find different solutions in the areas of talent and human resources, digitization and optimizing of business processes.
Interpreting hubs around Europe and Remote Simultaneous Interpreting
To provide remote interpreting of European Parliament (EP) meetings during the COVID-19 restriction period, we established an interpreting hub in Riga. Currently the hub offers interpreting only from/to Latvian, but after the lifting of travelling restrictions it could host interpreters from Estonia, Lithuania, Finland and Sweden. We have also created interpreting hubs in Vienna and Ljubljana.
Knowing that remote simultaneous interpreting has become a part of daily life, we are offering a new service to our clients for a second year – remote simultaneous interpreting using the software Interactio. During the course of the pandemic it has evolved with time and became increasingly able to provide synchronous interpreting for any kind of event anywhere in the world.
The year 2021 of Linearis in facts and figures
- We have helped to overcome the language barrier in more than 400 different language combinations. (The world is a wonderful and beautiful place. There are roughly 6500 languages in the world today).
- We spoke in more than 100 languages. (Currently the language spoken by the most people in the world (around 1.1 billion) is Mandarin which is a Chinese language dialect).
- We helped to understand more than 55 million words. (That is a lot more than one person says during the entire year, around 10 million words).
- It is more than 2 million pages. (Put in a pile they would be as high as almost 100 two-metre long Christmas trees).
- 9.7 out of 10 – this is our customers’ average rating of our service quality.
- 9.6 out of 10 – this is our customers’ average rating of our service provision speed.
- 9.8 out of 10 – this is our customers’ average rating of our customer service.
